   Thats interesting, Chris.

I’m wary of us all becoming armchair medics on here, but is the fundo still the gold standard given the propensity to need frequent revisions?  I wouldn’t mind getting off the PPI’s some day and get the mineral absorption back up again.

	Fundoplication is definitely still seen as the gold standard. As to “frequent” revisions. The “20 years later” study published earlier this year reporting on nearly 200 patients who underwent Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication 20 years ago, found 18% of them had had to have a revision. However, this type of surgery is always improving and the latest figures suggest more recent surgery sees failure requiring revision at only 4% – 6%. As with most things, we’re more likely to hear of those where it’s failed than where it hasn’t.

	It’s almost the same thing as in 2008 when I was looking for ablation there was Halo and cryo or heat or cold .It was constant war on the JHP blog as to which is better .Few ablations had been done the normal was 35x per doctor my doctor had done 300 so I traveled to him a gray haired doctor with a beard .I use to just laugh @ the fools bragging about being the first patient for their doctor . As my doctor stated it takes a 100 to do it well.Fundo or Linx or Halo you don’t take lightly as it can change you for the worse hole in your O or you have a hard time eating .No one ever worries about the 5 or 10% of the people who get mucked up .
