Any that we feel are or maybe spam posters will not be approved. We will endeavour to be as quick as we can when moderating any messages.

admin, I am not a new member but my post is being moderated?

Hi Linda

No, you should be okay as you have already posted more than 1 post. It's only new members that haven't posted before as we were getting new signups immediately posting 3 or 4 spam filled posts.

If you get any problems, feel free to message me with the title / time of the post and I'll look into it for you.

Regards
Richard

Hi Richard, I actually posted earlier on the 'Halo again' topic and I got a message saying that it was being moderated.  But I see that it is there now.

Thanks.

Hi Alan,

Don't know what has happened to your post. As you have been "vetted" to ensure you aren't a spammer, your posts should appear automatically.

I suggest you try reposting it?

Chris

Hi Alan

I've checked and it looks like the You Tube link may have caused a problem - I've now cleared it and you should have no more issues.

Regards
Richard

Hi Peaches and welcome,

LINX looks a promising alternative to fundoplication as a less drastic way of reducing reflux.

In a fundoplication, the top part of the stomach (fundus) is wrapped around the lower end of the oesophagus to tighten the lower oesophageal sphincter. I had that operation nearly three years ago which stopped my reflux and meant I didn't need acid suppressants.

The LINX system http://linxrefluxsurgery.com/ - http://linxrefluxsurgery.com/ uses a "bracelet" of magnets around the oesophagus instead. The attraction of the magnets to each other restricts the tube but opens as food is forced down by normal peristalsis.

However, currently LINX cannot be provided for patients with Barrett's.

Chris

**** NEWBIE MEMBERS ***** PLEASE READ *****

To further reduce the chances of spammers posting, all new members will be added to a group called "NEWBIE" members. Anyone in this group will need their posts approved before they are seen.

Once approved, you will be moved into the "NEWBIE PLUS" group where you can post freely.

I am currently working my way through moving genuine NEWBIE members into NEWBIE PLUS however I am checking each one with regards to posts, email address and IP address to root out potential fake account. This is taking time with over 800 members.

If you have posted as a NEWBIE, please feel free to post me a message on the messaging system and I'll respond as quickly as possible.

The held posts are normally reviewed as least twice a day but get in touch to jog me along if you want  Smile

Thanks
Richard

I think Richard, our forum administrator, is doing a great job keeping these fraudster spammers at bay. We have a large membership base willing to help new members as well as seek help themselves.
This can only happen effectively if we keep the spammers out. There are other forums I watch which have been so flooded with spam messages as to make them unusable.

Thanks, Richard.

Hi Fiona

You are now a "Newbie Plus" - your first post has been okayed so now you can post without having to wait for authorisation.

Unfortunately we have so many attempts at spam posting we have to operate the policy so that it didn't become of forum of links to trainers and handbag sites :)

Best wishes

Hi Tel and welcome to the club.

The new http://www.barretts.org.uk - Barrett's UK website (Barretts.org.uk) is a directory from where you may find all you may wish to know.
On the Links page, you will see the following progressive reading list:

1. https://sites.google.com/site/downwithacid2/home/complications/barrett-s-oesophagus/put-simply - Simply Put describes how Barrett's Oesophagus develops in simple terms.

2. https://sites.google.com/site/barrettswessex/JOURNEY - The Journey on the Barrett's Wessex website is from a talk by a consultant gastroenterologist in 2012 describing the Journey from diagnosis to treatment.

3. http://www.downwithacid.org.uk - Down With Acid is the website of the free encyclopaedia of everything to do with acid, reflux, complications and management, in layman's language.

If you want to delve deeper, the seminal work by William Beaumont, "Experiments and Observations on the gastric Juice" (1833)

%20https://play.google.com/store/books/details/William_Beaumont_Experiments_and_Observations_on_t?id=H6F4_9joRkgC - freely downloadable here is a good starting point

and the wesbite, BarrettsInfo (by Ryan Hill Foundation) was good but closed due to lack of funds. Fortunately the content s available as a pdf download https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=ZGVmYXVsdGRvbWFpbnxiYXJyZXR0c3dlc3NleHxneDoxYTZmNGMyODAyNWMxMzM2 - here.

Meanwhile, please do feel free to ask any questions on this forum. Hopefully you'll find all the answers you want.

HI there, thanks for allowing me to join, 1st joined in 2008 when diagnosed but have to admit only used the old site to read but never participated as a posting member.
Rejoined as a new member following changing from private to NHS check ups with surprising results....which I will start a new thread and not add to the new members posts.
