Hi all,

Itís been a long time since I last posted.

My history: 1.5cm non-dysplastic Barrettís removed by RFA 7 years ago. Iíve been taking 40mg of esomeprazole ever since. Thereís been no recurrence of Barrettís.

Over the past 3 years or so Iíve been struggling with heart palpitations. I had a stress echo test last year and there is nothing structurally wrong with my heart.

I have read that low magnesium can be the cause of such palpitations.

Iím considering whether to stop the PPI altogether, in case my body is being depleted of minerals etc.

As I understand it, the latest view is that PPIís should only be prescribed for symptom control and not because they confer any chemo-protective benefit for cancer. Is this correct?

I never had any symptoms of acid reflux prior to my diagnosis and Iíve also recently lost a considerable amount of weight (deliberately so).

What would you do in my situation?

Many thanks

Paul
