February is Oesophagus Awareness month in UK (#OAware for social media posts).

We are currently looking for ideas to promote this.
One idea, originating from Heartburn Cancer UK, is to try and involve as many golf clubs as possible in a special Burns Night Supper on or around 25 January 2017, with the idea that it is the kind of occasion that would happily include a witty reference to [heart]burn, and at a time of year when people may be thinking about their health.

Another suggestion is to utilise Valenitne's day in some way "love your oesophagus", "Does your heart burn?".
It would be good to get a number of awareness initiatives organised around the country.
There will be posters, leaflets and pharmacy fliers available from Action Against Heartburn which you may use to spread the word.
It is hoped some hospitals will be able to manage display tables at some time during the month. Supermarket or shopping centre collection days are another suggestion.

Please post any ideas you have here. Even if you cannot do much to spread the word, others may like your suggestions and manage to follow them up.

Oesophagus Awareness month had been suggested for February originally by the Martin Blake Foundation, an idea Barrett's Wessex attempted to propagate. The happy co-incidence of the 2015 Be Clear On Cancer campaign running in February provided its establishment. (Initially "Oesophageal Cancer Awareness month", the word "cancer" is now usually omitted as it may be more pertinent to raise awareness of Barrett's Oesophagus and, hopefully, reduce the incidence of cancer.)

Ideas for #OAware and spreading awareness on social media may be found on the Point to Your Oesophagus website (PTYO.org.uk) with ideas used in the 2015 (PTYO facebook selfie campaign) and the 2016 post a "Meme a day" on social media (see the Images tab of the PTYO site for ideas).
