Like so many people on this forum, with relux symptoms. I have suffered for years with sinus problems. I was prescribed a Steroid Nasal Spray and within 5 days of using this spray. I had a flaire- up of relux symptoms. I have currently gone from 40mg esomprozole to 80mg, in order to get it back under control. I have had no reflux for about 18 months, before this.
I know there is a link between Non-steroidal Anti inflammatory painkillers eg.ibuprofen and stomach problems.
Does anyone know if there is a link between the use of Steroid Nasal Sprays and increased inflammation of the stomach lining?

Thanks

Bob

I don't know of a link but I know when I tried a nasal sprat (which I found totally ineffective for the condition), it made my heartburn worse and talking with a new member this afternoon, discovered she had had the same reaction.
It may just be coincidence or there may be something in it?

Hi Bob,

According to the Mayo Clinic, steroid nasal sprays can cause problems, including upset stomach, in some people.

There are a lot of other links about these sprays, including this one http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/allergy-and-asthma/medicines/nasonex-nasal-spray.html that lists inflammation of throat as a possible effect, so you might like to google for some other links, too.

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Sandra.

Thanks Chris/Sandra.

2 days on 80mg esomprozole and my symptoms are back, under control.

Definately, not taking any more Nasal Steroid sprays, as they gave me 'the mother of all  heartburn'
