I can only agree I do just the same and have been diagnosed about the same time.

Hi Sue,

Like you I've been thinking of investing in an adjustable bed so haven't any advice for you on that score but I believe (assuming you are in the UK) that if you have to purchase this type of bed on medical grounds, which you would be doing, you are exempt the 20%VAT. You need to get your GP to complete and sign the relevant form for you to give to the shop at the time of purchase. That will save you a considerable amount.   No doubt someone will correct me if I've got this information wrong!

Well, I feel a bit calmer today - woke up and decided to tell that meddling consultant exactly what he can do with his stupid plan to stop my HALO treatment!!!  I have just sent him a real no-nonsense e-mail making my views very clear.  I have taken special care to emphasise the fact that I want my HALO treatment and that I think his plan to just take a look at the cells from time to time and hope they don't turn into something nasty is ridiculous and definitely not acceptable.  I hope by now he's having a bad day!!!.  Now waiting for a reply.
 
Yes, Laurence Lovat has an excellent reputation - curiously, the registrar who sorted out my tests and wants to do my HALO treatment at Guy's/St Thomas studied for a PhD in HALO & oesophageal problems while working with Dr Lovat as a Research Fellow.  Loathe as I am to ask my GP for any more referrals, I can do so if it becomes necessary.

P.S. Consultant has just sent a message back saying that I have an appointment to see him in clinic - seems he can't read, either - I told him in my e-mail that I had cancelled the appointment!!!! (Lucky he doesn't DO the HALO!!!).

it,s been almost a year sinceI have posted. hat's off to Chris & Rob for continuing to post and share information:). I am starting year three since I was told I have Barrett's Oesophagus. like everyone on this site It scared the crap out of me. I had never heard of this prior and then found myself learning a new lingo...some very scary words.   Researching a condition uncommon to my social group and feeling very much alone. Until I found this page.

I no longer worrie and look forward to my last annual scope... Please don't just leave it. I know you are having hassles with these people but I would have done anything to avoid 6 weeks on a ventilator and 6 months in hopsital. And that was having been lucky to catch the cancer fairly quickly. My HGD only appeared two months before the cancer did.
It is worth fighting.

Call Dr. Lovatt and seen IF he can CLEAR things up !!!
I know your having a rough time with this but review posts from other people and see how badly it went for them..
1)jcombs99 (2 yrs and $30,000 he spent and FUNDO broken)
2)Worried mother(daughter has 2 broken Fundos,12 yrs old)
3)Michaelh(over a year of treatment with 23cm of HGD)
4)Yorky (under going cancer treatment NOW)
5)Lizthebob (under went cancer treatment)
